We are seeking a skilled and politically savvy Political Consultant - Cybersecurity to join our team. In this strategic role you will provide expert advice on cybersecurity policy, risk mitigation, stakeholder engagement, and campaign communications to support political programmes and public-facing initiatives. You will translate technical cybersecurity issues into clear policy recommendations and communications that influence decision-makers, shape public debate, and protect organisational reputations. Key Responsibilities – Cybersecurity Policy, Strategic Advice & Stakeholder Engagement

• Policy Development & Analysis: Research, draft and refine cybersecurity policy positions, white papers, briefings and consultation responses tailored to political and regulatory contexts.

• Strategic Advice: Provide senior stakeholders and campaign leads with clear, actionable guidance on cybersecurity risks, regulatory changes, and reputational implications.

• Stakeholder Mapping & Engagement: Identify and engage with relevant political actors, regulators, industry bodies, think tanks and civil society to build coalitions and influence outcomes.

• Communications & Messaging: Translate complex technical and security concepts into accessible messaging for policymakers, media, and the public; support media interviews, speeches and briefings.

• Campaign & Project Support: Design and execute targeted policy campaigns, parliamentary activity, consultation strategies and rapid response plans relating to cybersecurity topics.

• Risk Assessment & Incident Support: Advise on political and reputational risks arising from cybersecurity incidents and support coordinated responses with communications and legal teams.

• Monitoring & Intelligence: Keep abreast of emerging cyber threats, legislation, and political developments; produce regular intelligence notes and recommended actions.

Required Skills & Experience – Political Advisory & Cybersecurity Knowledge

• Proven experience advising political stakeholders, campaigns, government departments, or policy teams on cybersecurity-related matters.

• Strong understanding of cybersecurity concepts, regulatory frameworks (e.g., NIS, GDPR, national cyber strategies) and contemporary threat landscapes.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience producing briefings, speeches, policy papers and media lines for senior audiences.

• Demonstrable stakeholder engagement experience across political, regulatory and industry environments.

• Ability to synthesize technical information and present clear policy options and risk-based recommendations.

• Comfort working to tight deadlines, managing multiple priorities and responding to rapidly evolving political situations.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

• Background in cybersecurity, national security, public policy, political communications or a related discipline.

• Experience working within parliamentary, governmental or regulatory settings, or on high-profile public affairs campaigns.

• Familiarity with FOI, consultation processes, and legislative timelines.

• Existing networks within government, parliamentary offices, regulators or sector-specific bodies.
